Handbuilding Workshop
Handbuilding Workshop
This studio workshop focuses on the fundamental language of hand-building, beginning with ancestral techniques that have been used across cultures for thousands of years.
Open to all levels. No prior experience required.
After your pieces have dried and gone through a bisque firing, they will be glazed and fired. Finished pieces will be ready for pick-up at a later date, with delivery available for an additional fee.
Light lunch and refreshments provided.
We’ll start by returning to the basics: pinch potting and coiling; simple, direct ways of working with clay by hand. From there, we’ll move into the two joined vessel technique, using these initial forms as a structural starting point. Through joining, cutting, and refining, each piece is allowed to develop at its own pace. The work may become a vase, jar, pot, or sculptural form, shaped by proportion, balance, and the material itself.
This workshop reflects an accumulation of what Re Jin has learned through years of studio practice and time spent learning alongside potters and makers in different parts of the world.
The emphasis is on process over outcome, offering a clear framework while leaving space for intuition and individual direction; building a foundation you can continue to return to.
