This Jayson Home’s copy of my Geo Table came to my attention on March 3rd, 2024. I designed and made the first table in 2021.

Quote from their product info: “we can confidently say that there is nothing quite like our artful Erdem Side Table.” >>>

Here are some of the tables I have been making since 2021.

This is one of the most challenging pieces for me to make. There's always a tremendous amount of anxiety as I consider the risks inherent in the process. The table consists of individually made pieces, carefully assembled one by one to ensure levelness. Since they're hollow, I ensure adequate airflow between the pieces. Then comes the slow drying process and kiln firing, where unexpected events can occur. It's exciting when everything goes well, but discouraging when it doesn't. Consequently, I hesitate to produce more unless there's a specific request and I can’t afford to say no.

So, when a major company approached me about outsourcing manufacturing and selling the tables through them, I eagerly accepted. The idea of making the tables more widely available was encouraging. However, finding a manufacturer capable of meeting our exact specifications proved challenging. During my search, one manufacturer suggested keeping the process handmade, emphasizing its rarity and uniqueness. I agreed. As I went through the process of finding another person to handle production, I realized that this table should remain rare and exclusive because it’s made solely by me, one person, and only becomes available when I create another one.

Therefore, discovering that Jayson Home appropriated my design, asserting its uniqueness, and is selling it is extremely disappointing. Throughout my career, I've encountered numerous instances of my designs being copied, typically by large corporations (most recently, THIS ONE), where the effort and resources required to address it outweighed the benefits. Yet, in this instance, I feel compelled to address you directly, Jayson Home. What will you do about this?
